LOT Volunteer Initiative – Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon & 5k

In addition to their regular volunteer contributions; LOT Students contribute to a local cause every summer. Last year they spent a day building with Habitat for Humanity and this year, the Scotiabank Vancouver Half-Marathon and 5k was their cause of choice. Now in its 12th year, this run drew over 5,000 participants, and helped raise $524,000 for 29 local charities as part of the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge.

LOT Students arrived at 7 a.m. on a Sunday, to help set up refreshments, direct participants and coordinate the gear check tent. In addition to providing logistical support, LOT Students cheered on runners of all levels. The fastest male in the half marathon finished in just over an hour, while the winning female was just under one hour and eighteen minutes.

LOT would like to thank the following Students for their participation: Ghazaleh Amir, Tina Chan, Ivan Goundrov, Frederick Hao, Alfred Lee, Kirsten Short, Helen Xie, and Henry Yeh.
